Castle Mountain Lodge is classic Estes Park Colorado with brown painted cabins next to Fall River Road near the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. Staying at this charming property will give you a true Estes experience.
Tourists have been finding rest and relaxation at this lodge for many decades but it does not show its age thanks to being well maintained and remodeling to keep it up to date. Though we like to focus on travel for two this lodge can accommodate your group no matter the size. Multiple 3 bedroom cottages are available, such as the Homestead which sleeps up to 10 people. But don’t worry because Castle Mountain Lodge is also well outfitted for those seeking that Estes Park romantic getaway.
Take the Great Room inglenook for example. With its spacious vaulted ceilings, wood fireplace, gas grill, king sized bed, full kitchen, and private hot tub, this will make a great home away from home while the two of you spend time in the “Gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park.”
Looking for something cozier? Try the River Castle 7 were you will also find your own private hot tub and wood burning fireplace. For our weekend getaway we stayed in the Little Pines inglenook and found it to be perfect. We made good use of the wood fireplace thanks to the wood box just outside our door that the staff kept always stocked with firewood, matches, and fire starter sticks. And even though the Little Pines did not have its own hot tub we had the option to reserve time in the large hot tub and have it all to ourselves.
When we met the owner, Warren Clinton, he showed us around the property and it was clear that this place was a labor of love for him. He really stressed that he wants his guests to feel welcome and relaxed while staying at Castle Mountain Lodge. This is evident in the main cottage where the office is located because it also contains a library where guests are invited to relax with a good book, a hot cup of coffee, or simply enjoying the large scale electric train that circles the room.
Warren also informed us that before guests check into cottages with private hot tubs the tubs are cleaned and filled with fresh water so no one has to share the water with the guest that stayed in the room before them. We found this comforting because some hot tubs leave you wondering when exactly the last time they were cleaned was. But due to this policy guests are asked to book at least two nights at a time.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Castle Mountain Lodge. It was quiet, clean, and well cared for. Just a short walk from our cabin was Nicky’s Steakhouse, a unique restaurant that had live piano going in the lounge which we found to be very relaxing. Downtown Estes is a short drive or you can walk/bike via the path along Fall River just outside your doorstep. Since our goal was to relax and just enjoy some simple time together this resort fit the bill to a tee.

This is truely a beautiful lodge, I would recommend going to Estes Park any day. If you live in another state or in Colorado you have to visit it at least once!
